Captain John
My name is John, and I’m originally from Arizona. I am a USCG licensed OUPV captain, with thousands of miles in power boats near shore and thousands more offshore in sail boats. I have been on boats for over 40 years. I started boating on the lakes in AZ and then on the Pacific Ocean in San Diego.
I moved to St Thomas in 2017 to follow the dream of living and sailing in the Caribbean and now when I’m not sailing Sweet Pea and showing guests the best of our islands I am sailing throughout the Caribbean on my 37’ catamaran with my fiancée.
Mariah
Mariah has been a member of the Sweet Pea family since June 2021. Originally from Iowa, Mariah grew up showing horses and pigs in 4H and previously worked in the legal field. She was hired and trained by as First Mate, Chef and Bartender by Captain Pat after moving to St. Thomas in January of the 2021. She loves being on the water so much that she got her own Captain’s license and STCW certification in January 2023.
When she’s not sailing, Mariah is playing with fire (literally) as a professional fire dancer and hula-hoop teacher, performing for private parties, resorts, full moon parties and everything in between.
Jasmine
Jasmine is our First Mate and has worked on Sweet Pea since 2015. She grew up in a small town around a lake in Pennsylvania, where she could typically be found on a horse, out on her grandparent’s boat, or in the kitchen apprenticing with her mother who is an amazing chef! Jasmine has always been drawn to the ocean and after graduating from high school, she moved to the beach in Ocean City, Maryland and went to college there.
Shortly after, she followed the warm tropical breezes and landed in St. Thomas, where she has lived since 2009. During that time, she was a veterinarian technician, and she helped run and manage a restaurant for six years until eventually it was sold.
St. Thomas is where Jasmine developed her love for sailing and found the perfect fit working on Sweet Pea. She was trained by and Apprenticed under the legendary Captain Pat, who was a USCG Certified Captain & Coast Guard Vet with over 50 years of world sailing experience.
